MOV Day of Action getting to work Wednesday

The seventh annual Day of Action will be held on Wednesday.

The Day of Action is a collaboration of the United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley and sponsor WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center.

The day-long Day of Action will involve hundreds of volunteers as individuals or groups helping United Way-funded agencies through service projects taking place throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley.

“We are so proud that WVU Medicine Camden Clark once again chose to sponsor Day of Action,” Stacy DeCicco, United Way Executive Director, said.

The United Way has organized the Day of Action since 2016. This year is the largest, DeCicco said.

“The partnership with Camden Clark allows us to continue to grow this capacity and broaden our collective impact as we will also add a seventh WVU Medicine team this year from Jackson General Hospital,” she said. “The difference that will be made throughout our community on this day will be difficult to fully describe. The impact will reach far and wide and could not continue at this level if we didn’t have phenomenal community partners walking alongside us in these efforts.”

More than 325 volunteers from companies, organizations and civic groups will rally on Wednesday, starting with the kickoff breakfast hosted by Camden Clark. Participants will gather at the breakfast prior to completing service projects.

In addition to community service opportunities, the United Way will host the Day of Action Blood Drive also on Wednesday for those who wish to make a difference, but are unable to participate in day-long service projects.

The blood drive will be held noon-6 p.m. at the Grand Central Mall near the Books-A-Million and Boot Barn stores. Online registration is available at RedCrossBlood.org.

Day of Action is an annual event internationally championed by United Way organizations that mobilize the caring power of volunteers to make a meaningful impact in communities across the globe. The event provides opportunities for volunteers of all ages to create positive change for themselves, their families and their communities on the longest day of the year, providing the most daylight hours to serve others.

Individuals interested in joining the local community service efforts on the Day of Action can contact jtownsend@uwamov.org. For more information, go to www.uwamov.com.
